Last saturday night I had a great time at the Tropical Heat Wave music festival in Ybor City, Florida. There was food, shopping and tons of music!

Got some greasy food:

Shopping around at some vintage stores:

Clean & Clear Oil Absorbing Sheets Review

As I took a trip to my local grocery store I saw these and decided to finally give them a try. I have heard many times about oil absorbing sheets that are used to remove excess oil without smudging your makeup, but I didn't see the point. I always thought: why not reapply some loose powder instead? Not anymore-- I do not question these little wonders. The small blue sheets come in a thin paper box great for travel or a small clutch. My skin can get shiny in the humid Florida weather and these do just the trick leaving my skin feeling refreshed rather than clogged and cakey as it often does after applying another layer of loose powder. Not only that, these are a better option for my acne prone skin. Removing the oil prevents buildup leading to breakouts. At about $5 for 50 sheets, it's a great deal!

My New Ombre Hair

My hair inspiration:
Camila Aviles

After much consideration, I decided to give into the new trend- ombre hair.  I have never colored my hair before, so I was hesitant this being my first time. That being said, I couldn't be happier with the results! It really adds dimension and interest to my dark hair. I love that undone, effortless look it gives you. In the photo above it looks more yellow (sorry for the bad lighting!), but it real life it is very close to my inspiration picture.
Stats:
About 3 hours for my cut and color
It cost me about $120

So it's a pretty long and pricey process, but it's very low maintenance and only needs to be touched up every few months. Still, if you aren't willing to break the bank, you can consider a DIY version. I ombred my friend's hair and it was much more affordable. However, is quite impossible for me to do it on my own hair which cued me to opt for some professional help. Here is a link to a great video if you are considering doing it at home:

Definitely a super fun trend to try!

My Day Diary: My Birthday and New Camera.

P.S. this picture was taken on my webcam

Today is birthday! Unfortunately, since it was a weekday there is not much time for me to sit back and enjoy. Still, all in all it was a pretty nice day. I started my cake and ice cream binge at lunch and plan to continue this marathon until this day is officially over. Thanks to my lovely friend I received some cupcakes and pink lilies. I was also lucky enough to receive a new camera (Nikon Cool Pix L120). It's nothing too fancy from a photographer's standpoint, nonetheless much an improvement from my tiny Fugi Film digital camera I was using before. I'm proud to have this new baby!
Tonight festivities shall ensue with dinner with the family. This weekend I am planning a girls night out to properly ring in another year past.

Hope every one is having a great day!

Face wash Favorites

St. Ives Naturally Clear Apricot Scrub
The absolute best exfoliant I have ever tried for acne prone skin. It scrubs away pore blockage and leaves my skin super soft. Plus, it smells delicious! When I am breaking out I use this as my secret weapon. One use before bed I wake up in the morning with noticeably clearer skin.

Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser for Normal to Oily Skin
I know this product is nothing new, but there's a reason it's been around for so long. It's very gentle and you can use it on your eyes as well as the rest of your face to wash away your makeup. My skin isn't over  dry or at all tight after. Really great for everyday use, morning or night. Love it!

How to be red lip ready.

I recently started experimenting with different lip colors and have found a new feature that is super fun to highlight. A lip color is a great way to brighten up your whole face in a quick and easy way. I love a bright lip color with a more toned down eye-- I just applied some mascara and a white liner to my inner waterline.

I am wearing Arbonne lipstick in the color Bravo. This lip color is very pigmented and doesn't smear. I definitely recommend these lipsticks.

Before you apply your lipstick:

*Exfoliate- removing dead skin creates a clean palette. Use a toothbrush and lightly rub in a circular motion after applying a light layer of lip balm.
*Moisturize- Apply another coat of lip balm (I used Chap Stick in classic cherry). Let it soak it before moving on the the next step.
*Prime- Dab on a small bit of liquid or cream foundation. This will make your color last longer and prevent it from seeping into the cracks of your lips.
*Lipstick- Now you are ready to add your color!
*Touch up- Have a Q-tip and makeup remover on hand if you are a newcomer. It may be difficult to get the color just on your lips.

Don't be afraid to go bold!

DIY Galaxy/Cosmic Vans

Before
After
Things you will need:
1) Acrylic or fabric paint in the colors you would like to have on your shoes. (I used white with light and dark shades of blue and purple)
2) Small sponges, cosmetic wedges work really well.
3) A small paint brush to make the stars.
4) A damp towel in case you get paint on the rubber sides of the shoe.

A few tips:
*On the black canvas the colors may not show up, so start by sponging on white in the areas you want to place the other colors (i.e. purple and blue)
*Add the stars last
*The little white stars are a really great touch-- don't forget this step.
*Test your sponging skills on paper first! It may take a bit of time to get the hang of it.
*Blending is key! You don't want sectioned blocks of color. The color in nebulas swirl together.
*Make sure your colors compliment each other. Look up pictures if you need inspiration.

In conclusion:
This was a pretty easy and fun DIY project. I'm in love with galaxy print so anything I can sponge with a nebula design, I most likely will. I'm pretty satisfied with how mine turned out.

Good luck!
